Jacob Rutledge
Pulpit Minister

Jacob Rutledge is a 2011 graduate of the Southwest School of Bible studies.  He is continuing his education through Heritage Christian University and has held gospel meetings and spoken in lectureships in Texas, Arkansas, Louisianna, Virginia and others.  He has also spoken at the annual preachers workshop, "Polishing the Pulpit".

Jacob is the director of Discipleship University andworks at various camps and retreats with young people.  He writes extensively and his most recent articles can be found on the "Disciple You" blog at www.discipleshiputexas.com.  He teaches small group studies, adult Bible class and youth classes at the church in Dripping Springs.  

He and his wife Jessica labored with the church in Atlanta, Texas for four years before moving to work with the church in Dripping Springs, Texas.  Together they have two children, Natalie and Easton.




 
Steven Akin
Youth Minister

Steven began preaching on a part-time basis for smaller congregations in his hometown of Cleveland, TN, while in high school.  He also served as a youth leader for his leader for his home congregation during this time.  After high school, he went on to earn his license as an Emergency Medical Technician.  In the three years following his graduation, he spent a total of six months in Tanzania, East Africa as a missionary.  While there, he conducted Bible studies with the natives, preached and taught at the local congregations and offered low-cost medical care through the mobile Mbeya Medical Clinic to isolated tribes in the African bush.

In 2015, he and his friend John organized and successfully completed a bike tour from Yorktown, Virginia to Asortia, Oregon in order to raise funds for a little girl with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy.  

From 2015 to 2017, Steven served as an intern for Apologetics Press in Montgomery, AL under Dr. Jeff Miller.  While on site, he wrote and proof-read apologetic-centered articles for future publication, but also conducted historical research at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. and served as a field assistant to paleontologist, Dr. Kurt Wise in Lusk, WY.

He is a 2017 graduate of the Southwest School of Bible Studies, where he earned the Carl and Janice Garner Lighthouse Award.

Steven has been happily married to his best friend, Catherine, since July of 2016.  They both love and enjoy serving their family at the Dripping Springs church of Christ.
